The Man in the High Castle is an award-winning novel by the science fiction writer, Philip K. Dick. The Allies lost World War II, leaving the Germans and Japanese to rule the world. The United States has been divided between these two powers, bringing slavery back to the South and imprisonment and death to the Jews. The Man in the High Castle is overpeopled, spattered with telegraphic dialogue simply absurd (A Japanese suicide says to his Colt "Cough up arcane secret".) Finally, there is riddled throughout a quasi-mystique, a pseudo-religious leit motif relating to an Eastern machine that answers questions when asked.
Looking back through this sub, a lot of people don't exactly praise the ending of this book at all. Just wondering why that might be. To try and recap the ending briefly, Juliana visits Abendsen Hawthorne, author of that grasshopper book wherein Germany and Japan lost the war, and the person referred to in the title. The Man in the High Castle is an alternate history novel written by Philip K.
